Born and raised in Dayton, Jim then moved to Englewood, Ohio, where he graduated from Northmont High School in 1967. He later attended Wright State University for 2 years but ran out of money and went back to work at his Dad's Machine Shop. While living in Brookville, he met his first wife and had a son named Andrew. He worked at the Verona Fire Department from 1976-1988. He met his current wife Margaret, married, then had another boy named Christopher. In 1988 he went over to the Children's Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana. There was a show of Mel Fisher's work on the Atocha Treasure ship with several artifacts. This really got Jim interested in Treasure Hunting. A few months later, he purchased an eighty pound Atocha silver bar. In 1993, Jim was a stockholder in a Treasure outfit where he met Mo Molinar who helped find the Atocha. Treasure Hunting was now in his blood. He was SCUBA certified in 1994. Rob and Jim have been friends for a number of years. |
